Maypole Engineering Solutions Limited have designed, manufactured and installed a turnkey conveyor and oven system for the BMW Mini wiring loom (Harness Heating).
The parameters set by BMW Mini UK for the system included the following:
The harness would require twenty minutes heating at a temperature of 60 degrees C. The cycle time of the production facility is one minute.
Therefore we designed an automatic chain loop system within the oven to meet the criteria.
The loading end was a manual feed system to allow the pallets to be returned to the load area after the harness heating bag has been delivered to the vehicle.
The results of the heating system have been welcomed by BMW Mini UK as the warm wiring loom is easier to install in the vehicle and the locating grommets that had been difficult to locate in the vehicle now locate with ease.
The loom was tested at various points within the bag and the temperature rise in twenty minutes was eleven
degrees C.
